Amelia, a 10-year-old Hard of Hearing girl, smiling outdoors

Hi, I'm Amelia!

I'm 10 years old and in 5th grade. I'm Hard of Hearing, and I started this project because I know how confusing it can feel when you're trying to find the right help. I was diagnosed in 1st grade, and one of my biggest challenges was being super sensitive to loud noises — noise-canceling headphones helped me get through school, activities, and busy places. I wanted other kids to have an easier time than I did.

I'm building this website with my dad so families in Seattle and the Puget Sound can discover real support without having to dig forever. I hope my experience helps make things a little clearer for someone else.

About GoMabel.com

GoMabel.com is named after Mabel Gardiner Hubbard Bell — a Deaf advocate, innovator, and a major influence behind early breakthroughs in communication technology. Folklore even says her husband, Alexander Graham Bell, pushed his telecommunication experiments partly in hopes of restoring her hearing. Whether or not every detail is true, her impact on accessibility, education, and communication is unmistakable. Her legacy inspires the spirit of this site: determined, curious, and supportive.

Our mission is simple: connect people with the DHH resources they need in Seattle and the Puget Sound area — faster and easier. We highlight trusted options: doctors, schools, hearing-aid tips, community groups, and places we know and rely on, like the Seattle Children's Audiology Department.

If you have ideas or resources we should add, we'd love to hear them. Every suggestion helps make GoMabel.com better for the next family who comes looking.
