Behind Go Mabel is a real child with a love of hockey, music, and adventure—and a family who wants more children to feel included.
Meet the inspiration ↓
A whole child. A world of interests.
Amelia plays hockey. She plays viola. She wears hearing aids. All of those things are part of her life.
Go Mabel begins with our daughter, Amelia, and our experience as her family. Raising a child with hearing differences has made communication, access, and belonging personal to us.
We want this space to hold the whole child: their interests, friendships, questions, and ideas. Hockey and music belong in Amelia’s story alongside hearing differences. Every child deserves that same room to be themselves.
Amelia’s experience is the starting point for Go Mabel. Your child may use different tools, communicate in different ways, and describe their identity differently. Their story belongs here, too.

From a family inspiration to a friendly fox
Mabel is a curious green fox who wears hearing aids. Through fictional stories and small activities, she gives children a way to explore asking for support, trying something new, and finding their place in a group.
Her adventures are imagined. They are not Amelia’s private experiences, and Mabel does not speak for every deaf or hard of hearing child. She is a companion for discovering what helps you.

I’m Oliver, Amelia’s dad and the creator of Go Mabel. My wife, Danica, and I are Amelia’s parents. This is a family-inspired project shaped by caring about our daughter and wanting useful, welcoming resources for other families.
I bring a parent’s perspective. Educational pages link to their sources, and our directory connects families with organizations that can answer questions about their own services. Our family story is one perspective among many.
Deaf and hard of hearing adults, families, and qualified professionals bring knowledge we want families to encounter. We welcome corrections and suggestions that help this space become more useful and inclusive.
